Hi Crafty Friends!
Here is a special tutorial I made for Graphic 45's newsletter yesterday: wedding favor macaron boxes using Botanical Tea!
For those of you who know me personally, you know that I have a serious weakness for sweets: cupcakes, gelato, candy ... My latest obsession has been macarons! So when I was tasked with creating a wedding favor tutorial, I couldn't help but incorporate these dainty (and somewhat devilish) cookies.
My first batch of macarons burned, but these ones were picture-ready. I wanted to do summer-y colors, so I felt Botanical Tea along with a bright pop of color, would be a beautiful color combination. My tutorial is super simple and makes three of these boxes.
Step 2. Your paper will have (5) 2” x 4” sections. Write numbers 1 – 5 above for reference.
Step 3. Take the third largest Spellbinders Labels Four die and place vertically between sections 2 and 3, blade side down. Secure with washi tape.
Step 4. Run paper and die through your die cutting machine. Remove the die and cut out paper.
Step 6. Apply Platinum Stickles along the edges of the cut out pattern on your lid.
Step 8. Place Field of Flowers paper sideways and score 1 7/8” and 3 ¾” from the left. Then score 1 7/8” and 3 ¾” from the right.
Step 9. Flip paper over so that the flower pattern is face up. Cut the 1 7/8” and 3 ¾” score lines to the 1” score lines per photo.
Step 12. Fold the left and right sides up per photo and adhere. This will be the base of your macaron box.
Step 13. Place some macarons inside the base of your box. (Here's a link to the recipe I like to use the most.)
Step 14. Insert the base of your box into your lid.
Step 15. Take a blue sheet of paper from your Couture 6x6 pad and punch (3) 1” circles.
Step 18. Adhere a large yellow flower to the top left side of your box. Then, adhere a large shabby chic key. Repeat steps 1 – 17 for remaining pieces of paper.
